While I have been trained in and draw upon Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and Psychodynamic Psychotherapy (PDT), I predominantly work from an evidence-based Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy (ISTDP) framework.

Besides from being a mouthful to say, ISTDP is an evidence-based approach designed to uncover and work through hidden, avoided emotions that often lie at the heart of psychological and physical difficulties.

ISTDP works by focusing on the connection between emotions and the body, helping you become more aware of how these unresolved feelings may contribute to your struggles.

Together, we identify the mechanisms that prevent deeper emotional experiences from coming to the surface, working through any barriers to full awareness. By resolving these underlying issues, ISTDP helps not only to alleviate distress but also to prevent problems from returning.

Whether you’re dealing with anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, or other challenges, ISTDP offers a powerful way to heal and move forward.

  • depression

  • anxiety

  • relationship difficulties

While people often come to therapy for help with symptoms like anxiety, depression, or relationship difficulties, these issues are rarely just about what’s happening on the surface. In my work, I focus on understanding the deeper emotional patterns and unconscious processes that give rise to these struggles. This means exploring not just what you're feeling—but why those feelings might be difficult to access, express, or tolerate.

Many of the symptoms we experience are the result of long-standing emotional defences—automatic ways the mind protects us from pain. These defences were often formed in early relationships or difficult life experiences and can include things like emotional numbing, self-criticism, people-pleasing, or intellectualizing feelings. While these strategies may have once helped us cope, they can also keep us stuck, disconnected, or repeating the same patterns.
